I'm Funny: Middle School Stories , known as I'm Funny , is a realistic fiction novel by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein. It was published by Little, Brown and Company in 2012. This was followed by I Even Funnier in 2013, I'm Really the Most Fun in 2015, I Funny TV in 2016, I Funny: School of Laughs in 2017 and The Nerdiest, Wimpiest, Dorkiest I Funny Ever in May 2018. [1]

Summary
Jamie Grimm is a very funny guy. He was left paralyzed from the foot down after a car accident that killed his family and moved him from his home in Cornwall to Long Beach on Long Island. He made jokes almost every day at his uncle's restaurant, school, and at home. His uncle told him that comedy competition for children will come in Ronkonkoma. Jamie went into the competition and won first place, which meant he moved on to the next round in New York (which he also won first place). He then gets his first real kiss by Suzie Orolvsky (known as Cool Girl by Jamie). In New York, the whole family came along, plus some friends from Long Beach. He won first place and moved to the next round in Boston. Everyone in Long Beach is so happy for her, so they have a party to win.

- Jamie Grimm is the defective protagonist of the story. He entered the Funniest Kid Comic Kid Contest and won the competition on Long Island, then proceeded to state competition and won. Next he will go to the Regionals in Boston. He was involved in a serious car accident two years earlier that killed his parents and his younger sister, Jenny, and made him paralyzed from the foot down, and put him in a wheelchair. He was then transferred from his home in Cornwall in Upstate New York to his aunt and uncle's family (whom he named "the Smiley" because they never smiled, even when Jamie made a joke) in Long Beach.
- Suzie Orolvsky (AKA Cool Girl ) is the girl Jamie brings her book. They became good friends and he kissed Jamie at night under the light of the full moon. It is said that Jamie and Gaynor both have feelings for her.
- Stevie Kosgrov is Jamie's adoptive brother and oppressor. He often makes jokes at the cost of telling Jamie to succeed because he is disabled.
- Uncle Frankie is Jamie's other uncle. She owns Frankie's Good Eats by Sea Diner and proves to be very talented with yo-yo tricks.
- Joey Gaynor is one of Jamie's best friends. She has long hair, nose rings, and some tattoos. She is said to be obsessed with women.
- Jimmy Pierce is one of Jamie's best friends. He is said to be a bookworm, has glasses, and wears this black hat with flat and wide edges. He's really brain and knows everything.
- Gilda Gold is one of Jamie's best friends. She is featured as a Boston Red Sox fan.
- Shecky is the son of Schenectady who competed in the New York finals. He tells jokes that are unpleasant and usually insulting, and overconfident and arrogant. The phrase catching it after telling a joke is "Ba-Boom, Nailed!".
- Judy Nazemetz is a girl from Manhattan who competes in the New York finals. She is Jamie's friend and turns out to have a contract with Disney to become the next Hannah Montana.
