Harry Potter was faked in the series Barry Trotter by American author Michael Gerber, in which "Barry Trotter" emerged as an eponymous antihero. On his website, Gerber described Trotter as an unpleasant character who "drank too much, ate like a pig, slept until midday, and owed money to everyone." The author states "[s] because I really like Rowling's books [...] I feel obliged to try to write a decent spoof from the original".
