Are You My Mother? is a children's book by P. D. Eastman published by Random House Books for Young Readers on June 12, 1960 as part of the Beginner Books series. Based on the 2007 online poll, the National Education Association named one book "100 Buku Guru for Kids." This is one of the "Top 100 Picture Books" of all time in the 2012 poll by School Library Journals .

Are You My Mom? is the story of a hatching bird. His mother, thinking his eggs will stay in his nest where he left him, leaving his own egg and flying for food. The baby hatches. He does not understand where his mother is so he goes looking for him. Since he does not have the ability to fly, he walks, and in his quest he asks for a kitten, a chicken, a dog, and a cow if they are his mother, but none of them.

Refusing to give up, he sees an old car, which he realizes can not be his mother. In despair, the hatchling summoned the boat and plane (did not respond), and finally, climbed into the teeth of a large power shovel. It burps "SNORT" from the pile of exhaust, pushing the bird to cry, "You're not my mother! You're a Snort!" As the engine vibrates and moves, it can not escape. "I want my mother!" he is screaming.

At that moment, Snort dropped the hatch into his nest, and his mother returned. The two reunited, delighted them, and the baby bird told her mother about the adventure she was looking for for her.

On August 13, 1991, Are You My Mother? is part of the Beginner Book Video series, directed and produced by Ray Messecar. The players include Ardys Flavelle, Merwin Goldsmith, Marian Hailey, Ron Marshall, Brendon Parry and Jim Thurman.

ArtsPower National Touring Theater creates an hour-long musical performance based on a book devoted to K-2 children, with music by Richard DeRosa.
