The main producer takes energy from other organisms and converts them into the energy used. In almost all cases, these are photosynthetic active organisms (plants, cyanobacteria, protists and a number of other unicellular organisms; see article on photosynthesis). They make energy that can be used for themselves and other organisms by taking energy from an inanimate source. However, there are examples of archaea and bacteria (unicellular organisms) that produce biomass from the oxidation of inorganic chemicals (chemoautotrophs) in deep-sea hydrothermal vents. This organism is considered to exist in the lowest trophic level. There are many other examples of primary producers. Chemosynthesis plays an important role in being a major producer as well. This organism is the reason why the Earth can survive to this day.

Example

There are many major types of producers in Earth ecosystems in different states. Fungi and other organisms that obtain biomass from oxidizing organic matter are called decomposers and not major producers. However, the moss located in the tundra climate is an outstanding example of a major producer who, with a mutualistic symbiosis, combines photosynthesis by algae (or additional nitrogen fixation by cyanobacteria) with the protection of decomposer fungi. Also, the major producers of plants (trees, algae) use the sun as a form of energy and put it into the air for other organisms. Of course there are major H2O producers, including bacteria, and phytoplankton. Since there are many examples of major producers, the two dominant species are corals and one of the many types of brown algae, seaweed.

Photosynthesis

Primary gross production occurs with photosynthesis. This is also the main way the major producers take energy and produce/release it elsewhere. Plants, corals, bacteria, and algae do this. Bacteria are newer findings in the process of photosynthesis with major producers, as they have just been found on the ground. During photosynthesis, the main producer takes energy from the sun and produces it into energy, sugar, and oxygen. Primary producers also need energy to convert this same energy elsewhere, so they get it from nutrients. One type of nutrient is nitrogen.

Important manufacturer importance

Without a major producer, an organism capable of generating its own energy, the Earth would not be able to defend itself. Plants, along with other major producers, produce the energy consumed, and the oxygen they breathe.

It is estimated that the first organism on Earth is the major producer located on the ocean floor.

Primary production in tropical streams and streams

Aquatic algae is a significant contributor to food webs in tropical rivers and rivers. This is represented by net primary production, a fundamental ecological process that reflects the amount of carbon synthesized in an ecosystem. This carbon is finally available to consumers. Primary net production shows that the primary level of in-stream production in the tropics is at least an order of magnitude greater than that of a similar climate system.
